The Northern Territory Principals’ Association is dedicated to empowering exceptional educational leaders to cultivate thriving, equitable, and high-quality learning environments, enriching the educational landscape across the Northern Territory for all students.

NTPA Mission

To empower and advocate for all school leaders in the Northern Territory through strategic partnerships, customised professional development, comprehensive wellbeing support and a unified voice in educational policy. We are dedicated to fostering diversity, equity, and inclusion within all regions across the Northern Territory.

We are the influential voice for all primary and secondary school members. 

We advocate for the needs of our members through our commitment to: 

  • Actively represent the interests of our members by engaging with government and educational bodies to influence policy, provide informed feedback and ensure the unique needs of   members are prioritised in all discussions. 
  • Engage in research and gather evidence to support advocacy efforts, inform decision-making, and address the unique needs of diverse communities within the Northern Territory's educational landscape. 
  • Build and maintain strong, strategic relationships with relevant peak bodies to amplify our advocacy initiatives in educational forums at both Territory and national levels. 
  • Engage in meaningful consultation with our members, ensuring their voices are heard and their perspectives are integrated into our advocacy strategies.

We champion and support leader wellbeing. 

We support the diverse needs of our members’ wellbeing through our commitment to: 

  • Prioritising mental health and resilience through enhanced wellbeing support  
  • including crisis intervention,  
  • mentoring,  
  • proactive measures,  
  • resources and  
  • workshops that address the diverse needs of members. 
  • Explore strategies to ensure the needs of members in regional, remote and very remote areas are supported. 
  • Provide tailored confidential and professional support to members. 
  • Provide opportunities for collegiality and sharing of professional practice.

  • Ensuring all members have access to premium professional development regardless of location. This includes:
  • Face to face workshops 
  • Blended approaches 
  • Online professional development 
  • Contributing to the development of position papers

  • Create opportunities to drive positive change and enhance educational outcomes for all students.
  • Build and strengthen strong networks among members and partner organisations.
