Professional Collaborative Learning Days
I was fortunate to attend 4 PCL Days-Darwin, Top End, East Arnhem and Central Remote. Each region was provided the same information by a Senior Executive officer of what the strategic 2026 foci are and that schools are building upon the priorities from 2025. The introduction of the Profiles is a new tool that principals can use when writing their ASIP’s.
Similar messages were expressed by principals across the four regions I visited, that their school’s budget were not sufficient for 2026 staffing and programs. Please connect your FIMs and work with them to clarify. We are also collecting examples from principals where their budgets are in deficit. Contact your Chapter Chair or email Jo Poulter at ntpa.admin@education.nt.go.au
Reducing Administrative Burden with DCDD
NTPA are currently collecting mini examples of concerns with quality, consistency and timeliness and advice and processes from DCDD. These could be related to requests to HR, Payroll, Jira. NTPA will then present these examples to work on DCDD can help reduce administrative burden. Send examples to ntpa.admin@education.nt.gov.au

Include Disability Submission
The Disability Standards for Education 2005 (the Standards) aim to ensure students with disability can access and participate in education and training on the same basis as students without disability. They clarify the responsibilities education and training providers have under the Disability Discrimination Act 1992.
The Standards are reviewed every 5 years to ensure they continue to meet the needs of students with disability. For further information 2025 Review of the Disability Standards for Education - consultation - Department of Education, Australian Government
The NTPA will submit a submission. Please send any feedback on the key questions. Review dates are 26 September to 21 November.
Selection Panels
Thank you to everyone who has volunteered to serve as NTPA representative on a principal selection panel. Your commitment ensures a fair, rigorous process that places students, staff and community at the heart of leadership appointments and makes a lasting difference to NT schools.
Wellbeing
To our school leaders, thank you for the steady courage, clear vision and deep care you bring to every day, your leadership shapes the learning in your school. Please remember that a strong principal is also one who protects their own wellbeing: prioritise rest, boundaries, connection with colleagues and small daily rituals that replenish you so you can lead sustainably.
